individual giving
It can be very rewarding to support a cause that transforms lives in an instant. Our program in Rwanda identifies people with vision correction needs, and where appropriate, offers them a pair of glasses.
The beauty of our solution is that vision assessments and dispensing of glasses can be done by local people; community health workers, teachers and nurses, who can be trained in as little as two days. This is a critical new approach to vision correction; in Rwanda, there are just 14 eye care specialists to serve its population of 10 million people.
You can support us in a variety of ways:
You can also choose to sponsor a group of villages through our Club Level Giving Program. Your donation will provide the necessary training and equipment (vision charts, eyeglasses etc.) required for community health workers, teachers and nurses to assess the population of each of the villages you sponsor.
We will help you track the progress of those villages, and provide you with a report detailing how many people were screened, and of those, how many are using glasses. After these men, women and children have spent time with their correction vision, we will contact them to document the transformative impact of your donation, and update you with stories of how your donation has made a difference to their lives.

There are many ways you can help us with a donation in kind. These include:
• Support from the eye care industry, such as a donation made to the Vision for a Nation program for each pair of eyeglasses sold or a donation of ready-made reading glasses.
• Support from logistics companies for transport and distribution of eyeglasses, and materials related to the Vision for a Nation program.
• Support from media/communications companies for marketing and promotion of the Vision for a Nation program.
• Support for market research and market support from large corporations operating in Rwanda and elsewhere in Africa.
• Support to develop mobile phone software for nationwide data collection. The Government of Rwanda has pledged mobile phones for all 40,000 community health workers. Rwanda has 98% network coverage.
